Summary: The Pulp and Paper segment is among the largest consumers of biomass and energy in the industrial sector, according to a survey conducted by Empresa Energética (EPE). In 2015, the pulp and paper production sector accounted for 20.4% of the total primary energy consumed by the industry. Within these primary energies are the bleach (or black liquor) produced in the process itself and biomass in general. In this context, the present work analyzes a system whose function is to meet the demands of thermal energy, mechanical and electrical energy of a plant in a Pulp and Paper industry. A thermoeconomic analysis was performed using four cost models (Exergetic Cost Theory Model, Model E, H & S Model and UFS Model) in order to determine the unit exergetic cost of the final products of the plant. In order to improve the energy conversion systems and reduce losses in the use of primary resources, with the results obtained in the analyzes presented in this paper, we can evaluate and discuss the possibilities of investments and improvements in the process. In addition, this work aims to make an analysis of thermal efficiency based on the Second Law of thermodynamics with comparison of an ex-economic model used by Silva (2002).
