Summary: Oil wells that operate with steam injection as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method often are built with thermal insulated columns in order to reduce the heat loss during the steam transport to the formation. This dissertation introduces and describes a computational approach to simulate the oil recovery operation conditions in these wells, as well as ways to apply this approach to simulate transport cases of heat and mass and determine the energy and economic efficiency of the use of thermal insulation in these recovery and production processes.
Keywords: EOR. Steam Injection. Insulated Columns. Computational Simulations. Finite Volumes.
